If you head further west, you will be able to admire the emerald beauty – river Soca. Or try to climb on bike to the old Mangart road. The scene of the »high towers of rock« is just unforgettable.

Alpine region is full of fine farms, where you can still find a lot of traditional food. Milk and Cheese. Bohinj cheese. Or the high-quality cheese from Tolmin in the Soca valley. But if you are guest on Bled lake, then you shell try famous Bled cream cake. Ištvan Lukačevič, the former manager of Park Hotel patisserie, tested the recipes and various combinations of ingredients for a long time, before finding the right one. The original cream cake, which has been traditionally made since 1953, almost 70 years, is the most popular one. Original cream cakes are made fresh every day and are offered at Kavarna Park, opposite the hotel.
RETREAT FROM A HOT SUMMER
As the whole region is positioned in higher elevations, it can be a good idea to come here in the period of very hot summer days. You can still have a lot of sun, but the temperatures are lower than in the other parts of the country. Fresh mountain air was the main element, which brought a tourism to the famous Bled Lake.
CYCLING HIGHLIGHTS
Alpine cycling region is a perfect place for those seeeking for harder challenges. You will climb a highest pass of Vršič from the village of Kranjska Gora. Further there is a chance to make a big tour, along the Soca river, turn back and climb over Predil pass to Italy and back to Kranjska Gora. Another start point could be Kamnik Town. If you like, you can try the route of Slovenian Alpe Adria Road Marathon with many vertical meters and over 3 passes….
