ABOUT THE PANNONIA REGION
Pannonia is known as a flattest part of Slovenia, which is true, but not for all the area. It is positioned in the western part of so called prehistoric Pannonian Sea, which was present here millions of years ago. This area is called Pomurje – a sun-drenched landscape around the Mura River, comprising Prlekija, part of Štajerska (Styria) and Prekmurje, which ascends from the river and stream wetlands of the Ravenska world into the wine-growing and afforested hills of Goričko with Lendava and Slovenian hills, as well as Prlekija with Jerusalem vineyards.
In the lowlands, you can relax in many thermal spas with springs of thermal waters. The locals on the wine-growing slopes can embellish your stop with unforgettable experiences with some good wine and culinary delicacies, while the sounds of the local band and the panoramic views of the vineyard terraces, church bell towers and cottages pamper all of your senses.
Pannonia area is suitable for a cyclist of all kinds. There are nice family cycling paths and tours, suitable also for seniors, or cycling sport beginners. But we shall not forget a possibility for excellent gravel road riding in the whole area around Mura river as well as in Goričko area. There is a dense net of secondary roads for a perfect road cycling. You can visit our neighboring countries from there, like going to Hungary or Croatia. We organize trips which combines also visits to both countries.
UNFORGETTABLE SCENERY
Very green land, with typical villages in the Pannonian style. Land of storck. Yes, you will see them on top of many chimneys. Area where you can visit a vulcanic part of Goričko with dense forests combining with meadows and small villages. There is a biggest castle in Slovenia too. In the area there are many tradicional crafts still present, such as water runned mills on Mura river, Apiculture, production of ceramics, like from hundred years ago.

Bograč is a traditional Slovenian meat stew that was supposedly invented by Hungarian shepherds when Prekmurje was under Hungarian rule. The stew consists of four types of meat—traditionally pork, beef, venison, and boar—which are simmered along with potatoes, onions, spices, wine, and optionally mushrooms. The dish was named after bogracs—a traditional cauldron in which it is still prepared today.
Prekmurska gibanica is a variety of potica, a layered strudel pie characteristic for the eastern part of the country. The name comes from gibâničnik, a type of pastry basket, or gibâničar, an old Slovenian word for a baker. This interesting combination of different fillings and paper-thin phyllo strudel pastry is actually very common in Central European cuisine, but what makes Slovenian gibanica different from the others is the bottom layer, often made with shortcrust pastry.

Pannonia is great for every kind of cycling activity. There are many nice secondary roads, positioned in the flatter parts, close to Murska Sobota. Northern part of the area is known for short, sharp ascents and descents, there are miles and miles of gravel roads to. On the other hand, you can find also cycling paths, which are suitable for the families and relaxed cruising around.
