Bellow the high Alpine peaks and north of the seaside, you will find a green stretch of subalpine Slovenia. The territory itself has many different faces. Starting with the emerald river Soča valley on the west. Above the river there are vines of Goriška Brda, on the other side, there are high plateaus like Banjšica and Trnovski Forest, and high top of the Nanos mountain, known for excellent view over Slovenia.
Direction south there is a scenic plateau called Kras- the world of underground wonders, stunning natural phenomena and unique tastes. The Karst surprises with Postojna Cave, which is the most visited cave in Europe, Škocjan Caves with an extraordinary underground gorge and other world-famous special features.
Lipica has been the original stud farm of white Lipizzaner horses since 1580. Štanjel is the architectural gem of the Karst. Delicious fare can be found along the Brkini Fruit Road and the Karst Wine Route.

The Soca river is known for the best delicious Trout fish in Europe. And there is also excellent cheese product which we shall not forget. At Kobarid, you shell visit a Planika cheese production. Kras region is known for a perfect wine, especially for so called Teran. Special kind of Rifosco and of course for the wind dried Prosciutto. Home made pasta, excellent sweet liquor of Teran wine. The Karst cuisine expresses the wealth of one of the oldest cultural landscapes in Europe. Feel the first spring sun and the freshness of the bora wind in the dishes. You can do point to point tours, starting bellow the Alps in Soca valley down to the seaside, you can discover a gravel road and labyrinth of paths bellow Postojna or at the high plateau of Banjšica and Trnovski forest. Because of many important natural and historical sites, it is suitable for easy discovery cycling tours of course. Short stages and a lot of fun.
